Process requirements

What the filtration duty must achieve

Edible-oil filtration removes suspended food residues, fines and other particulate matter that can accelerate quality deterioration or interfere with downstream processing. Hot frying-oil duties add temperature, oxidation and operator-safety constraints. Viscosity falls as oil is heated, improving flow, but every component must be rated for the actual temperature.

Sri Bharathi publishes high-temperature depth pads for compatible operating temperatures from 180 to 250 °C. Standard pulp, paper, fabric, wound or stainless-steel media require separate temperature and compatibility confirmation.

Process design

A staged filtration approach

Use strainers or settling for coarse crumbs, followed by supported depth media for fine particulate capture. Where the process runs hot, select a specifically confirmed high-temperature pad and suitable filter hardware. Wound or stainless-steel cartridges may fit cooler polishing or utility-oil duties depending on construction.

Trend oil temperature, flow, differential pressure, visible solids and the site’s oil-quality indicators. Establish safe isolation, drainage, cooling and spent-media handling.

What temperature range is published for Sri Bharathi hot-oil pads?

The current source states 180–250 °C for the product family. Confirm the exact grade, exposure and equipment before use.

Does filtration restore used oil completely?

No. Filtration removes suspended particulate but does not reverse all chemical degradation or remove every dissolved oxidation product.

Why filter oil hot?

Lower viscosity can improve flow and suspended solids are easier to circulate, but elevated temperature increases equipment and operator-safety requirements.

Can standard paper be used in hot frying oil?

Only if the exact paper grade and support have been confirmed for the temperature and fluid. Do not infer suitability from appearance.
